PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF SURVEY AT BOTTOM OF PAGE

February 26, 2004

Fellow Army meteorologists,

Recently I got a phone call from Kenneth Knowlton who graduated from the Met. school at Ft. Monmouth in March 1959 and was then stationed at Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah. He suggested that we should try to organize the ex-Army meteorologists into a group. The objectives of the group would be to establish and maintain social contacts and to record and preserve the history of Meteorologists in the US Army.

I like the idea but am not sure there is enough interest to make it work. So we decided that I would conduct a preliminary survey to see if there is any interest in forming such a group. We will both send this email to every ex-Army meteorologist we know, and I will also post it on my Army meteorology web page at [http://home.ionet.net/~paroales/93E2H.HTM]. If enough interest is expressed, we will try to formulate a plan to organize. Please take the time to express your opinions on such an organization.

1) Would you be interested in a formal organization affiliated with a major group such as the Signal Corps Regimental Association?
2) Or a less formal Yahoo or MSN email Group?
3) Or simply a central registration point to keep track of names, address, email, phone number, graduation date, assignments, etc.?
4) Or something else? If so, what?
5) Or none of the above?

Please email your responses to Paul Roales at paroales@ionet.net (or use the link below). Any and all comments are welcome. We would also appreciate it if you forwarded this survey to every other ex-Army meteorologist you know , so they can also participate in the decision.

I will periodically update the results of this survey on my web page. Thanks for your opinion.

Sincerely,
Paul Roales
